OpenCode 2.2 Adds Claude Agent as DeepSeek Debuts Super-Agent: November 1 Roundup

The two biggest stories today are on the open-source side: OpenCode shipped three releases on October 30, including a built-in provider that reuses your Claude Code login, and DeepSeek announced Super-Agent, a prototype coding agent that acts without waiting for prompts. The Claude Code, Codex and Copilot changelogs had no new releases since our last roundup.

OpenCode 2.2.3 to 2.2.5: Claude Agent provider and artifacts

According to the OpenCode release notes, all three versions landed on October 30:

  • v2.2.3: a built-in Claude Agent provider that uses your Claude Code login, plus streaming and long-session performance work in Desktop.
  • v2.2.4: desktop terminals tied to sessions that persist across server restarts, opt-in experimental artifacts so agents can publish HTML or static files, guided Claude Agent setup, and schedules that fire once across multiple server processes.
  • v2.2.5: worktree and base-branch shortcuts, a percentage-based compaction.buffer, tool calls named bash now run as shell, and MCP servers sending stdio messages over 10 MiB no longer disconnect.

Two breaking changes matter if you manage OpenCode centrally: TUI plugins now require OpenTUI 0.8 or later, and the managed-policy integration.use action now covers only integrations. MCP servers, skills and plugins use new mcp.use, skill.use and plugin.use actions, so review your policies before upgrading.

DeepSeek Super-Agent targets Claude Code

As reported by Investing.com, DeepSeek announced Super-Agent on Saturday through its Harness team on WeChat. It is described as a prototype, open-source coding agent that can monitor developer group conversations, spot coding problems and propose solutions without direct instructions. The pitch is to reduce the attention users must give it while maximizing the value delivered. The launch follows DeepSeek's decision to build a dedicated Harness team and its recent fundraise of about 100 billion yuan ($15 billion) ahead of a planned IPO. Treat it as an early prototype: details beyond the announcement are thin.

Status of the other major tools

  • Claude Code: the changelog still lists 2.1.316 as newest, which deprecates Opus 4.8 fast mode with removal scheduled for November 30, 2026.
  • OpenAI Codex: 0.166.0 (October 29) remains the latest stable release, adding GPT-6.1 Terra to model catalogs and codex doctor --network-only.
  • GitHub Copilot: the Copilot changelog has no entries after October 28, when Fusion, Agentic Workflows and Agent Merge arrived.

What to do

If you run OpenCode with managed policies, audit them for the new action names before updating. If you already pay for Claude Code, the Claude Agent provider lets you try OpenCode's interface without a second subscription. Watch DeepSeek Super-Agent for a public repository and real demos before drawing conclusions.
